Young-Gen leadership, ages 13–25

GMA's youth leadership program for young people from member families anywhere in the US, with online participation. More than 60 took part in the first cycle.

GMA Youth Scholarships

GMA awards scholarships to students from Munnurukapu member families. Recipients are honored at the biennial GMA Mahasabha.

  • Who can applyA student of Munnurukapu heritage from a GMA member family in good standing. Joining GMA is free.
  • What you will needTranscripts, proof of enrollment, a personal statement, two letters of recommendation and proof of GMA membership.
  • Dates and amountsThe Scholarship Committee announces the dates, award amounts and criteria for each cycle. Email to be told when applications open.

International students

Help for Telugu students in the US: arriving on an F-1 visa, OPT and H-1B, and starting a career.

Arriving on an F-1 visa

Carry: passport with F-1 visa, original signed I-20, SEVIS (I-901) fee receipt, admission letter, financial proof, education certificates, your DSO's contact details and your US address.

At inspection: answer the officer's questions clearly and honestly. A visa does not guarantee entry. Being sent to secondary inspection is common; stay calm, and contact your DSO if you are held more than two hours.

Immigration questions

GMA refers members to partner immigration attorneys for F-1 OPT and STEM OPT, the H-1B lottery, green cards (PERM, I-140, priority dates), H-4 and F-2 family visas, and citizenship (N-400).

Careers and mentoring
  • IT training, resume help and interview coaching.
  • Open Zoom Q&A every other week for high school and college students.
  • One-to-one mentoring from GMA physicians, from high school science to residency.
  • Internship introductions through the Business Forum.
