About GMA Awards
GMA recognizes outstanding community members, families, businesses, and organizations at the annual Mahasabha convention. Awards honor achievement across multiple categories — from academic excellence to philanthropic impact to cultural contribution.
Award Categories
Community Service Award
For individuals who have given exceptional time, energy, and resources to serving the Munnurukapu community — through GMA programs, SEVA volunteering, or independent community work.
Professional Excellence Award
Recognizing outstanding achievement in medicine, technology, business, academia, law, or public service. Celebrates Munnurukapu professionals who have made the community proud.
Youth Achievement Award
Honoring young Munnurukapu community members (under 30) making a difference through academics, entrepreneurship, community service, or cultural excellence.
Cultural Heritage Award
Recognizing those who have worked to preserve, promote, and pass on Telugu language, classical arts, literature, and Munnurukapu cultural traditions.
Philanthropy Award
Honoring generous donors and supporters whose giving has transformed lives — in the US and back home in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Women's Leadership Award
The Vanitha Award — recognizing outstanding Munnurukapu women leaders who inspire the community through professional achievement, community service, or cultural leadership.
Nominate Someone Deserving
Award nominations are accepted from all GMA members annually, typically June–August before the Mahasabha convention. Nominations require:
- Nominee name and contact information
- Award category and specific achievements
- Brief biography (200–500 words)
- Two supporting nominations from other GMA members
- Your contact information as the nominator
A selection committee of GMA board members and past award recipients reviews all nominations. Winners are notified 30 days before the convention.
