BUSINESS FORUM · PROPERTY & LOCATION
Buying property or looking for a business location?
First decide what the place is for: an investment, or a place to run your business. Do this before you rely on a listing, a forecast or a sales conversation.

Find a location
An investment, or a place for your business? Then get it checked.
Investment property
How long will you keep it? What income, costs and condition do you expect, and what could go wrong?
Place to run your business
Think about customers, whether your business is allowed there, access, deliveries and obligations.
Write down what you do not know
Note the facts, your guesses, the documents and the open questions.
Get it checked
Ask a qualified professional to review it before a big commitment.
What to bring to any conversation
Bring what the place is for, how long you plan to keep it, the facts you know, the kinds of costs and obligations, the documents you have read, and your next open question.
About community listings
Listings are posted by members. Check them yourself. GMA does not check or recommend any property, provider or result.
Things to think about for each choice
Investment property: the purchase, money needed for repairs or upgrades, financing, income, expenses, condition, whether it will be rented (occupancy), obligations, and what could go wrong.
Business location: the lease, whether your business is allowed there, how you can leave the lease, utilities, maintenance, access, zoning, permits, occupancy, and having the agreement reviewed.
