More Vowels (ఉ ఊ ఋ)
The trick
Great job! Now three more Achulu. Two are another short/long pair, and one is a special “r” vowel.
- ఉ = u — like the “u” in put.
- ఊ = uu — a long “oo” like in moon. (ఉ stretched out!)
- ఋ = ru — a rolled “ri/ru” sound. It’s rare, but good to know!
Worked examples
Words that begin with each:
- ఉ → ఉడుత (uduta) = squirrel 🐿️
- ఊ → ఊయల (ooyala) = swing/cradle
- ఋ → ఋషి (rushi) = sage/wise person 🧘
