Sequence: Order Matters
The trick
The simplest idea in coding is sequence: the computer runs your instructions from top to bottom, one after another, in order. Order changes everything. "Put on socks, then shoes" works; "put on shoes, then socks" does not — even though the two steps are identical. A tiny order mistake is one of the most common bugs, in kids' first programs and in professional software alike. When something doesn't work, one of the first questions a programmer asks is: "Are my steps in the right order?"

🧩 Unplugged activity: Write 5 steps to draw a simple house. Now shuffle them into the wrong order and try to draw following the shuffled steps exactly. See how order breaks it? Put them back in the right sequence.
