Make a Budget That Sticks
The trick
A budget is just a plan for your money before the month starts — telling it where to go instead of wondering where it went. A famous starting guide is the 50/30/20 rule: about 50% of take-home pay to needs, 30% to wants, and 20% to saving and paying off debt. Treat it as a guide, not a law — adjust the numbers to your life and cost of living. The best budget is the one you'll actually follow. Pay yourself first: move money to savings the day you're paid, before it disappears.
Worked examples
💰 Money task: Take your monthly take-home pay and split it on paper into needs / wants / savings-and-debt using 50/30/20 as a starting point. Where does your real spending differ?
