Where Your Money Goes

The trick

Financial control starts with one habit: knowing where your money goes. Money splits into income (what comes in — salary, business, interest) and expenses (what goes out). Expenses come in two kinds: needs (rent, food, utilities, medicine, school fees) and wants (eating out, subscriptions, gadgets). Neither is bad — but you can only make good choices once you can see the split. The goal isn't to spend nothing; it's to spend on purpose.

This course is educational, not personalised financial advice. For decisions about your specific situation, talk to a qualified financial adviser.

Worked examples

💰 Money task: Write down everything you spent in the last 3 days, and mark each as a need or a want. No judging — just look. Most people are surprised by one category.
