Home-style Tiffin & Meal Prep Service
Video coming soon.
Cook fresh, home-style South Indian meals and weekly tiffins for busy families, students and professionals.
Evaluation
Market: Steady, repeat demand — working parents, students and single professionals who miss home cooking buy tiffins week after week, so revenue is recurring, not one-off.
Competition: Restaurants and delivery apps compete on convenience, but few offer authentic, affordable home-style Telugu food on a subscription. Word of mouth inside the community is a real edge.
Difficulty & cost: Low barrier — you can start from a licensed home or shared commercial kitchen. The main constraints are food-safety permits and your own time.
Pros: Low startup cost, fast to test, loyal customers, and it scales from a few tiffins a week to a full catering operation.
How to implement
- Check local cottage-food / home-kitchen rules and get a food handler permit; if your state limits home cooking, rent hours in a shared commercial kitchen.
- Pick a tight weekly menu (3–4 rotating meals), price a single tiffin and a weekly plan, and cost your ingredients so each plate is profitable.
- Run a pilot with 10 families from the GMA network for two weeks, take a small deposit, and use their feedback to fix portions, spice and packaging.
- Take orders on WhatsApp or a simple form, set a fixed pickup/delivery window, and grow by referrals and a listing in the community classifieds.
