Technique explanation

2,000 years ago Aristotle named three tools of persuasion we still use. Ethos = trust (why believe you?). Pathos = emotion (how does it make them feel?). Logos = logic (facts and reasons). The magic is the mix: facts alone are dry, emotion alone feels manipulative, trust alone isn't enough. The strongest persuasion braids all three — establish you're trustworthy, make them feel something, and back it with solid reasons.

Worked examples

🎤 Speaking homework: Pick something to persuade people of. Give a 90-second pitch using all three: one line of ethos ("I know this because…"), one moment of pathos (a feeling or story), one fact of logos (a reason or number).
